Some really nice Indonesian food that was prepared fresh, hot, and quick! Both dishes we had were super chillie hot, full of flavour and delicious. Filled a spot. The regular size is just enough for a lite meal, but if you are super hungry or eat big, go large. There are lots of customisation options, too.

🌋 Volcano Chicken
🍚 Crazy Rice
🐓 Bang J Chicken
Kaki Lima is an Indonesian restaurant located in Melbourne’s CBD and also a Food Truck in Footscray. They do a modern take on street food, with a fast and snappy concept. 🇮🇩
“Kaki Lima’ literally translated from bahasa, means ‘five feet’, referring to the pedestrian sidewalks that the hawkers and food carts would gather at, creating impromptu eating destinations, which were always five feet wide.”
We visited their food truck and were expecting big, authentic flavours. Sadly we were disappointed with all three we tried. The Bang Bang Noodles were plain, with a few very scarce pieces of chicken within. The Volcano Chicken was extremely spicy, but apart from the heat lacked flavour. The crazy rice was basic. 🍚
Nothing we had was bad, but it was lacklustre. I think it would be better to try their restaurant instead. 🤷🏼♀️

Food truck with car park in the area but a bit hard to turn in from the main road. We parked nearby and walked over.
Service was good and accommodating.
Food was just ok. We tried crazy rice, rendang crispy chicken rice and salted egg chicken rice/noodle. They were all just so so, not impressive and a bit below expectation.
Price is ok, not expensive.
My friend said that their mee goreng is good so I may be back to give it another go. But for what we tried so far, not so great!

Kaki Lima is so good.
Pictures do not do it any justice. You need to try for yourself.
Small bowls roughly $11 and larger bowls for an extra $3, $14.
A number of flavours available. I went there with my partner 3 times within a week to try different bowl.
Definitely a must try. Cheap lunch and cheap dinner.
Great staffs, very friendly.
I would recommend!
